Elif Demircan-Hüttemann has more than a decade of international relations and public affairs experience at NGOs, local governments and business associations. Elif is a consultant for business development in Europe region for IDEMA (International Development Management). Prior to joining IDEMA, Elif was leading the American Chamber of Commerce Turkey (AmCham Turkey/ABFT) as the Executive Director between the years 2012 and 2017, responsible for developing and implementing the organizational strategy in coordination with the Board of Directors. During her role, Elif communicated regularly with stakeholders and strategic partners worldwide including government representatives from Turkey, US and EU. She has also connected the organization with other AmChams across Europe, the Middle East and Caucasia to exchange expertise, governance practices and facilitate best practice sharing.
Before joining AmCham Turkey, Elif worked at the Şişli Municipality Istanbul as the Foreign Affairs Coordinator and the European Union Center Director. She coordinated foreign relations for the Municipality, strengthened networking capacity, built partnerships in EU countries and established working relations with local and international NGOs, universities, public bodies, trade unions, businesses, and business associations. She also worked at the ARI Movement as the Deputy Secretary General of International Relations. She served as the Project Coordinator of the Europa Handbook project as well as the Assistant Editor of Turkish Policy Quarterly (TPQ). Elif was born in Istanbul and earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Istanbul University and Master's degree in EU Politics & International Relations from Marmara University. She is a PhD candidate in Political Science and International Relations at Marmara University.
