TREDAŞ and GE launch "Brilliant Grid" operation system, a first in Turkey

In 2014, the distribution grid operator of Thrace Region, TREDAŞ, collaborated with GE, firmly on track towards becoming the world's leading digital industrial company, in order to minimize power failures and maximize customer satisfaction. To this end, GE Grid Solutions, which established an operation Center at TREDAŞ, created a structure where business services are supported with the most up-to-date data.

The Operation Center marked the first ever reference project in Turkey to deliver an all-in-one integrated system that includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS), SCADA, Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS). The agreement between GE and TREDAŞ entails delivery of an integrated system that includes GIS, SCADA, DMS and OMS in Turkey; renovation of the 32-MV (medium voltage) distribution system; and provision of maintenance and support for 6 years.

Canan Özsoy, Chairperson and CEO of GE Turkey explained that one of their major goals as the world's leading digital industrial company is to increase their number of model-setting projects in the field of brilliant grids, setting ground for smart cities across the country: "To this end, we are proud of paving the way for a shift to an automation system through our collaboration with TREDAŞ, the power distributor for a field of approximately 20,000 square kilometers in our country."
