With the "Tobacco Agriculture and Development Project”, which has entered its 9th year, Philip Morris / Sabancı has touched the lives of thousands of farmers. The Project which was initiated in order to encourage quality tobacco production, expand good farming practices and increase the level of tobacco production in the Southeast Anatolia Region, continues to create added value in the region.
140 villages in Adıyaman, 32 in Hatay, and a total of 172 villages have become exporters. PMI invested approximately 4.5 million dollars for activities regarding tobacco production in addition to tobacco purchases from 4 thousand villagers. The company contributed approximately 235 million TRY to the regional economy with the tobacco purchases they made during the of period 2010-2015.
