3M Turkey Donates Medical Supplies

3M Turkey donates TRY 425,000 worth of supplies in the fight against COVID-19

As the entire world goes through extraordinary times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 3M has been at the forefront of this fight worldwide. Since the first day of the outbreak, 3M has rapidly stepped up its production in its facilities worldwide to procure the required materials with priority to healthcare personnel. The company has cooperated with governments to make sure healthcare personnel have access to these products wherever they are. The brand, which has a global presence with its science, stood by the healthcare industry again with its science and donated TRY425,000 worth of medical equipment to the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health.

Commenting on the issue, Mert Büyükyazgan, Country Leader at 3M Turkey, said: “During these challenging times we are going through, we strive to show our support in the way we know best: with our science. To this end, we have donated TRY425,000 worth of medical supplies to our Ministry of Health. Borusan Cat - Stay Strong Stay Connected

Borusan Cat continues its operations in 6 countries with the scope of protecting its people, customers, business and the society. In response to this new era, Borusan Cat restructured its approach from crisis management to anxiety management and united its way under Stay Strong Stay Connected motto.

Its parent company Borusan Group addressed this period with a #GettingOverTogether model and embraced this belief in its actions. Borusan Group so far provided approximately a total of 6.5 million TL equivalent for the fight against COVID-19 and continues its efforts. Within these contributions the Group has donated 5 million TL to Turkey's national solidarity campaign.

Borusan Cat, like the rest of Borusan Group companies, has prioritized support to health associations during this process. Energy support needs of most of the city hospitals of Turkey are being supplied by Borusan Cat. Therefore, hospitals’ service needs are addressed as the highest priority to handle with immediate reaction approach. Borusan Cat has been working in collaboration with central and local authorities since day one, on various contributions. To support the needs of the Turkish government, Borusan Cat specifically donated industrial generator sets to be used until the rest of the year in its rental fleet to fight against COVID-19. Borusan Cat also supports the governments of the five countries besides Turkey in its operational geography by addressing the specified needs and requests.

Cargill Covid-19 Support

Cargill is taking all necessary precautions for the health and safety for its employees. At the same time, the company strives to fulfill its commitment to meet the food needs in a responsible, safe and sustainable manner for both global and national scale.

During the period of the nation-wide struggle against the pandemic, Cargill is working sensitively to fulfill all its duties. Cargill is involved in the ‘National Support Campaign’. In every city where they carry out production processes, the Company works with Balıkesir, Bursa, Orhangazi, İzmit Municipalities and ‘Loyalty Support and Solidarity Groups’ to deliver hot meals and food boxes to meet the food needs of elderly people who have to stay home. Under this scope, Cargill meets food needs of 500 families at least for one month. 

Turyağ brand showed its gratitude with donating 250 tons of oil worth ₺1,750,000 to 5,000 points in the out-of-home consumption channel who have been selflessly continuing their production.

Citibank, which celebrates its 45th anniversary in Turkey, supports National Solidarity campaign with 1 Million TL worth of medical equipment to fight against Covid-19. Citibank provides and delivers medical equipment and material needed for pandemic hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health. Together with its bottling partner Coca-Cola İçecek, The Coca-Cola System is supporting the most affected communities. As part of its community support in Turkey, the Company donated totaling USD 1.5 mln to Red Crescent and will be executed in partnership with TİDER and Ahbap platform. To support the fight against the Covid-19, they also donated beverages to Red Crescent to be distributed to 20.000 people in quarantine in 15 cities.

Coca-Cola provide medical equipment to hospitals and food support to elderly people with Kızılay, they will provide food &cleaning material thru TIDER’s food banking networks that is supporting 150K households in 29 cities and distribute food support vouchers to 15K on premise employees impacted because of COVID-19 via Ahbap platform. Also, sanitizers produced in their plants is provided to local health authorities to be used in of hospitals.

General Electric Covid-19 Response

Since the beginning of pandemic period, GE continues to contribute efforts against the corona virus outbreak.

GE Healthcare, is in the center of these efforts and is proud to support customers, governments and the broader healthcare community in the fight against this virus. To help address this global challenge, GE has increased their manufacturing capacity and output of equipment – including CTs, ultrasound devices, mobile X-ray systems, patient monitors and ventilators – important in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 patients, while taking steps to ensure safe operations for their employees.

In addition to these, GE Healthcare and Ford Motor Company have made a pledge to work together to scale the production of ventilators, arming clinicians with medical equipment important in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Through this collaboration, Ford will provide its technical and production expertise with the goal of manufacturing a simplified design of GE Healthcare’s existing ventilator. Additionally, at the Madison production plant in Wisconsin, GE Healthcare also incorpareted nearly 100 GE volunteers to teach how to install and test the complex life-saving ventilators, by expanding their existing production line to 24/7 operations.

Johnson & Johnson Selected a Vaccine Candidate to Prevent Spread of COVID-19 & Donated TRY 1,7 Million to Turkish Ministry of Health

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has collaborated with Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the US Department of Health and Human Services, and selected a promising protective vaccine candidate against new type coronavirus. J&J and BARDA have committed to invest USD 1 million to deliver this target and to produce 1 billion doses of vaccine for emergency use without any profit making purpose.  It is anticipated that the vaccine will be available for use at the beginning of 2021 and the works are ongoing at full steam.

In Turkey, J&J donated TRY 1 million 500 thousand in cash and personal hygiene and care products worth TRY 200.000 to the Ministry of Health for healthcare professionals and patients. Moreover, J&J has donated USD 50 million to meet the urgent needs of healthcare professionals over the globe.

Medtronic - Open-Source Plans for Ventilators

In response to this crisis, Medtronic is working around the clock to manufacture ventilators and to create new solutions for increased ventilator production. 

To this end, and in support of the public health and medical response of governmental agencies around the world, Medtronic has publicly posted design specifications for the Puritan Bennett 560 (PB560) ventilator to allow innovators, inventors, start-ups, and academic institutions to leverage their own expertise and resources to evaluate options for rapid ventilator manufacturing. Among the materials publicly posted are hardware-design specifications and manufacturing instructions, ventilator-design documents (including manufacturing fixtures, printed circuit-board drawings, multiple bills of materials [BOMs], and 3D CAD files), and software source-code files. We have also completed the upload of design, software, and technical files.

To date, there have been more than 90,000 registrations for design specifications since the company publicly shared them — and they are very pleased with the global response to support the world's need for more ventilators.

Mondelez International Covid-19 Support

Mondelez International "Love our Brands & Consumers" 

Mondelez International continue to reflect its “Love our Brands & Consumers” & “Do What’s Right” values during the outbreak. The company has donated its products to the needy families through TIDER (Temel İhtiyaç Derneği) and has donated 2.5 tons of Bayram candies to health professionals working at Pandemic Hospitals and quarantined people at the school dormitories. 

Currently, Mondelez is working on developing new projects aiming to support small businesses and needy people. Mondelez Turkey sales teams will visit around 200 grocery stores across Turkey and purchase staple food products from them and distribute those packages to 1.500 needy people.

PepsiCo Turkey committed more than 12 million TL to combat the impacts of Covid-19. The company’s local support comes in addition to the global support of more than $45 million. The support will be provided to local communities in-need within the framework of “Give Meals Give Hope” initiative. Working closely with community groups, charities and other non-governmental organizations like foodbanks, the program will provide meals and food boxes where the need is greatest.

PepsiCo Turkey will provide meals and basic hygiene goods to around 3 million people country-wide through leading foodbanks.

Additionally, through an employee donation campaign, PepsiCo Foundation will match the donations of employees to their charities and foodbanks of choice all over the worlds, providing a total of another 13 million TL.

Procter&Gamble - Covid-19 Response

P&G Turkey Delivered more than 40.000 Product Donations

At P&G, we must maintain the safe production, distribution and availability of the everyday essential products that people across Turkey need during this difficult time. Doing this starts with taking care of the health and wellbeing of our people, especially those who go to their workplaces to ensure a supply of goods.  We are constantly evaluating and updating the robust measures to help our people be safe at work.

Externally, P&G has been working with long-standing partner organizations since the onset of the outbreak, to understand how to best support communities, relief agencies and those impacted by this global emergency. On March 27th P&G announced that it will be making donations totaling $10 million USD across Europe in personal health and hygiene, household products, sanitizers and financial support to help people in need, including families, elderly citizens and health professionals.

In Turkey, following the establishment of quarantine residences, we have received clearance from Ministry of Youth and Sports and accordingly in coordination with Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay), P&G has delivered 1500 packs of Ariel, 5250 Fairy’s and 600 Flash surface cleaners (total of approx. 13 tons) to ensure these are distributed to the residences hosting some 10M people in nearly 23 cities to ensure the residences’ overall hygiene. P&G has also delivered P&G Personal Hygiene kits to the people in quarantine residences in Istanbul, totaling to more than 2,000 personal care kits so far – featuring shampoos, toothbrushes, toothpastes, razors, hygiene pads.

Since the beginning of the outbreak in Turkey, P&G Turkey has already delivered more than 40,000 pieces of product donations worth over $76,000 (approx. 530,000 TRY) to Turkish Red Crescent to be used for quarantine residences.
